FloraHolland, the Dutch flower auction cooperative, is moving over to a voice picking system using Zetes technology.

For sales of flowers and plants at an auction, the orders must be processed in a very short time. FloraHolland’s distribution process differs from order picking in warehouses, as the entire purchasing procedure takes place during the selling time on the auction clock.

The Zetes 3iV Crystal voice picking technology will replace a paper system in one of the biggest voice implementations in the country. The system was adapted to meet the specific requirements of the distribution processes in Naaldwijk and Bleiswijk.

The system uses Vocollect’s Talkman T5 voice computers, VoiceClient and VoiceConsole.

Frank Mast, logistics manager at FloraHolland, Bleiswijk, said “Our trial demonstrated that voice is both more efficient and safer. With 3iV Crystal, the aim is to reduce errors in the picking and so save costs in the distribution process.”
